All of the commercially released Blind Willie Mctell recordings on C.D.are 11/2 steps or 2 steps above recording pitch, possibly because Mctell used a low octave tuneing witch seems flat to 440 pitch used to by producers, but it is in fact wrong and roughly equilvelant to hearing 33rpm vinyal played at 45rpm.All of these recordings should at least include a disclaimer like pich or time condensed. No wonder Mctell said everytime he recorded it came to grief,Imangine his thoughts if he were here now. Also, there is no complete recordings avaible, including pending release of the Cohn/DeSylvia,which is slated to include the excellant documentary"Blind Willies Blues"by Atlantan native David Fulmer.

Black Betty was not a strap he used. Black Betty was the name of the truck Bud Russell used to transport the men to the Walls Unit in Huntsville, TX. I know this because I am his great grand daughter.

Great tradition of true blues.
Son House's music is deep from his heart, that's what I need.

Son House's music changed my life. Listening to his comeback album, I realized where the rock and roll I was listening to, and the jazz my father listened to, came from. Nothing I have every heard matches the emotional intensity and honesty of Son House.

Thanks for keeping his memory and music alive.
