Re: Alma Henderson. In the 4th edition, and current edition, of Blues & Gospel Records 1890-1943 (1997) they make the same stricture of being of little blues interest, but state Alma Henderson was the "married name of white singer Alma Rotta".

Keep up the good work.

Dear Jeff -

I'll avoid being a grammar Nazi regarding defective spelling and cut right to the chase:

1.) I'm not so sure that I'd say that Tate was mostly a side-man. For example, "The Babies from Greenville" [Baby Tate, Baby Brooks, Chilly Wind] was an acoustic blues trio that broadcast out of Greenville in the 40s. Tate was the leader. He also seems to have taught Pink Anderson much of his blues repertoire.
2.) I am also unsure of his playing with Fuller - he may have met, as he also met Blind Blake while still living in Elberton, GA.
3.) The full title of Tate's Bluesville LP is "See What You Done Done"! I recorded him extensively in 1970 and 1971.

4.) Roy Dunn's other moniker was James Calvin Speed, to correct a typo.

5.) My Rich Trice sides are all of sacred
material, as he had "gone church" by the time I met him, and he was WAY out of practice.

6.) Homesick told me that he met Fuller in Chicago, probably when Fuller recorded there that one time. Or it might have been in Memphis the one time Fuller recorded there.

7.) Kirkland claimed to have been born in Jamaica, BWI; his mother was twelve and his father was a Cuban sailor.

8.) Big Chief Ellis was from Birmingham, AL and knew many of the pianists from that city. He did session-work for Atlantic as well, being on Stick McGhee's big hit "Drinkin' Wine Spo-dee O Dee".

9.) Tarheel Slim was taken up by T. Ruth and added to The Selah Jubilee Singers (who later recorded secular music as well; The Larks being their most successful name.) "The Lovers" was not a vocal group, but Slim & Ann - given that name by their record label.

10.) Ya needs a proof reader for these!

Other than that, nice job - I look forward to hearing the show sometime. It was great to finally "meet" via Skype (and my son's computer magic). Keep up the good work, a thankless but necessary task.
